Our Own Kind of Fair

July is the month that the local county fair comes to town. When we were growing up the fair was two weeks long, but in the last couple of years they have shortened it to a week, whether it was budget restraints or just pure ghettoness I am not sure. Either way, I have always loved going, even if it is only for an hour or two. I love the "fair food", funnel cake is the ultimate, and cotton candy is a close second. This year "the crew" joined up to go on a friday night after work. I had to opt out as I had a Mary Kay thing to take care of, but planned on meeting up with them right after. Everyone met at our place and I took off to do my errand. When I got home everyone was still there to my surprise! They were bummed I wasn't going to make it and I guess pretty much decided that the thing they were all going for was the "fair food" too. So they busted out our Deep Fryer that we had received as a wedding gift and had NEVER used. Erin S. googled a batter recipe and we had a super fun night of funnel cake, deep fried twinkees and deep fried snickers. We were all pretty much sick at the end of the night, but we had fun and we had "fair food" so we couldn't complain much!

Canada- Revisited...

Sorry about the week delay in getting these last three days up. We got busy with the "real world". Here's a summery of the last Three Days in The Okanagan (DRINK!)

DAY 7- THE WINERIES!
So they tell us that The Okanagan (DRINK!) is like the Napa Valley of BC....hmmm well, it's not quite that, but it was still good....they actually might one up us on the view, no not actually, they really do!
We went to three wineries, each progressively better. When we got to the last (Mission Hills- where most of these views are from) Sara looked at Aaron and I an said "I am glad we did them in the order we did, otherwise this would have SUCKED!" Yep- She was right. After words Aaron, Wilf, Matt and I hit up a local brewery called Freddies. I was the DD for these gentlemen, regardless the four of us had a nice time and I got carded...guess I look younger than 19! WHAT!??

DAY 8- Our last full day in The Okanagan (DRINK!)
This morning Aaron and I started watch The Sentinel. Once Sara got her sorry butt out of bed, we played Makeup! LOL! I brought some of my Mary Kay samples up there so that I could do a "demo" with her and write off the trip (woo hoo!). We had such a fun time just going through the motions, and it was good practice for me! I loaded her up with goodies too! I think she was pretty stoked.
After lunch we took off to the Value Village looking for Aaron Moose shirt- and we were successful! Actually 5 shirts deep successful! I will post a picture of that later. Sara scored on some awesome kids books, and I got away scott free...
Thant night we dropped Bells off at the grandparents and took a drive up the MTN. and a nice hike along some summer laden (ok it was still cold 11c) ski slopes! What a Blast! I think we captured our Christmas card picture there too!

DAY 9- The Ending...
All good things must come to an end. Today we had a great breakfast with Crew at The Polson Diner (we like to call it the Poisin Diner) puzt around a bit and then headed for the Airport....this time we did NOT run through the Vancouver airport; We sat for 3.5 hours! What a stinkin long layover! We had some beer, bought some time on a Internet Kiosk (which still has 39 minutes left on it, if we ever get back there...and I remember the password) and puzt around some more, and some more, and then finally hit the tarmak and got our butts home....whew. We walked in the door at 11:00 pm- and crashed into bed!

Definitely a great trip. Thanks Sara and Matt and Isabella for housing us and showing us a good time in The Okanagan (now DRINK!) Heh hhh!

Mary Kay and the rest of the happenings...

It's all in the title...Davina and I started our very own Mary Kay business.... Can you hear the extatic sarcasm bleeding from my voice when I say we are SO EXCITED!  I am really not sure where this is going to go, but all we both know is that we need to get our money back...at the very least.

It has been about three weeks since we have started and though we are frustrated with some aspects of the "business" we are excited about others.  The product is fantastic, if nothing else, I know that!  I started using their face wash and mositurizer and my face has never been softer.

The best part about all of this, is that I have found a great teammate and it has put us both in the new mindset of starting our own business.  I think it is a ways off, but we are like stellar together.  With Davina's artistry and want for more than just Mary Kay and with my business b/g and want for more than just Mary Kay, we are dreaming up fantastic ideas and great business ideas that extend well beyond MK and into other areas.  Our end goal is to become event coordinators....WOW after 5 years of deciding I DID NOT want to be an event planner, I finally came full circle and am back on the boat, but in a whole different way.

This day in age, I understand more fully why so many people are looking more and more to the Small Business Owner route.  Both Aaron and I are working on our own Small Business Plans (for completely different businesses).  Now the trick will be to see who goes first or if we can accomplish this all at the same time...my guess is that one of us will have to go first.

Until next time (I will try to be better I promise) - Peace Out! haha
